Climate Change and Nothing is Done About It
"Enough is already known about the risks of climate change to justify taking strong measures now to reduce future harm to people and the environment(p. 624)."
It means that even though the United States citizens and leaders know the problems that arise with climate change and the fact that it is happening, they choose to do nothing about it. With the most extremist side denying that the world is experiencing any climate change at present or that it will occur in the future. I have chosen the quote because today's young generation has focus on Earth and climate change. They understand the consequences that would come into their future if nothing is done to at least slow down climate change. In addition, it seems very selfish that as a capitalist country, there is no effort to address climate change because profit may be lost. However, the fact that the young generation made a protest and had city officials even excuse them from school in order to bring awareness of climate change. Although, there is no change being done by our current political leaders, it seems nice that our future leaders will probably end up taking up the responsibility and making the world a better place to live in for future generations. In addition, it seems as though our future leaders will not care much about the economic costs that will come with making the country better but care about the people by also possibly enacting stricter gun laws and regulations.
